Lorenzo Villoresi Alamut 50 ml — Eau de Toilette

I am greeted by a floral rush carried by lightly resinous labdanum and warming slightly sweet amber. The rose emerges after a while and remains dominant throughout the entire progression. "Alamut" is spiced with sandalwood, patchouli, amber, leather, and amyris. Amyris balsamifera, also known as West Indian sandalwood - a resinous liquid secreted from the tree's bark, likely enhances the slightly woody note of the base. Musk gives it a soft touch, and somehow the base seems a bit brighter or softer than the progression up to that point. The powdery notes are at most a whisper. I like "Alamut" EdT; it reminds me of "Lyric Woman" in a toned-down version and is thus more suitable for everyday wear.

Lorenzo Villoresi scents are the ultimate fragrance. For years I haunted the perfume counters of Bloomingdales and all the fragrances I bought there made my skin break out in red blotches. You'll never have that problem with Lorenzo Villoresi fragrances. They're all-natural with no harsh chemical after-odor. I believe that, years ago, NY Magazine found Alamut to be the "sexiest fragrance in New York." For me, it's my "going out to rumba" scent. When I spray this on, I know that it's time to party. Wear a Lorenzo Villoresi fragrance and be prepared for compliments.

What a disappointment after waiting for weeks! Not even close to what I was expecting to wear on my wedding night :( cost me a small fortune...total waste.

...was not at all oriental, but this fragrance actually reminds me of my maternal grandmother. It has the creaminess of old-lady scents and yes, this fragrance also has something musty (perhaps the patchouli) in the rather long dry down, which I really like because it gives me a sense of security, the kind of security that old peasant women convey, whose senses only seek the very simple, who had a lot of elemental things in their lives, sun, rain, wind, and crackling hearth fires. The kind who, on an old-woman summer evening, peels a fragrant apple on the bench in front of the house and knows that everything lies behind her and nothing else lies ahead but the eternally same passage of days. I like this because it has the beauty of the morbid, of an evening that is slowly and somewhat clumsily bidding farewell, where circles close and all things come to rest, and perhaps a feeling dies and perhaps a thought is thought for the very last time...

I'm on my second bottle of this. It's low-key sexy, very feminine and very pretty. There's something very comforting about it. It makes me think of rich, spicy jam. The sillage is good. This is not an overbearing, in-your-face scent, but it is lovely enough to get comments if people get close enough to smell it. I could imagine a fiery-tempered flamenco dancer wearing this if she needed to try to act conservative. Does that make any sense? It's spirited, yet somehow unobtrusive. More of a winter scent than for the rest of the year. The bottle is just gorgeous! It looks like something from a sorcerer's potion collection.
