Rochas Byzance 90 ml Extrait de Parfum Donna

I bought the perfume assuming the scent is near in smell to the original Rochas Byzance. But, it is very very different from the original and does not appeal to me at all. I am not sure this can be returned as I had wripped the wrapping had sprayed it once. Apart from that, the rest was perfect in terms of the ordering and delivery.

I use to wear this perfume when I was in my early 20s then it was discontinued. I just love this perfum. When I found out they made it again I was just so happy and bought a bottle. This perfum smells so good and it makes me feel good during the day. I love the smell and its very sensual. Men love it too, on women. its a very good quality also.

I've never smelled the original and apparently this version has been the victim of cost-cutting reformulation. Still, I think it's quite lovely: aldehydes and a bit of citrus up top, musky and a bit of sandalwood on the bottom. A pretty pretty scent. Glad to have picked it up on discount, happy to have it, though probably won't buy another bottle when it's gone (though now I'm intrigued enough to keep an eye out for a vintage bottle to sniff!).

I've tried the vintage and current versions--current version is missing some "oomph." It's lost some of that heady, nectar-sweet floral quality, and maybe some of the sandalwood. Still recognizable, but the Rochas accountants have had their wicked way with it. The new version settles down faster--both versions are lightly sweet and spicy, powdery-musky, and a bit soapy. Dominant notes are clean sweet jasmine, tuberose, and sandalwood. Very feminine, pretty, sweet, girlish, a bit heady if overapplied. Those who enjoy this scent might also enjoy Bourbon French Blue Blossoms or Boucheron Jaipur Saphir, similar scents of much better quality.

This scent is fabulous! But, take note people IT'S A WINTER SCENT! Not Autumn, Spring or Summer. The cold air seems to freeze the musky scent and make it turn kind of sweet. On me this scent smells like those candy musk sticks, but that doesn't even describe it properly. It is so complex, so sophisticated, so unbelievable. I smell the jumpers I have been wearing after I used this perfume and I'm intoxicated by the mystique of this scent. Truly fabulous. It will take a little while to settle on your skin. I get compliments every single time I wear this.
